Half Hollow Hills C.S.D. (Workshop Presentation)
Dear Darlene,
I would sincerely like to thank your for your participation in the New York State site visit on March 13th. Pat Geary and her team have asked me to extend their thanks for a wonderful, productive, and informative day. The information shared on Thursday truly epitomizes the statement: "it takes a whole village to raise a child." Staff members presented as true professionals with expertise and confidence in their particular field. Underlying the program information was the overwhelming impression that the Half Hollow Hills team consists of people who truly care about children and who are flexible, creative team players. The examples of excellent communication between all stakeholders is indicative of how Half Hollow Hills does not just provide a "free appropriate education" for its students, but an enriched environment for all students, conducive for optimal academic and social growth.
On a personal note, at this juncture in my career, this visit allowed me to take the time to view Half Hollow Hills, its staff, and program for children with autism, from a different perspective. It reaffirmed everything I knew, on a somewhat subliminal level, and made me exceedingly proud to have been part of this excellent team. Although I believe that we can utilize our expertise to help other districts replicate our program, I know that there are certain elements that we could never convey in a brochure or at a conference. I look forward to our continued commitment to the excellence as evidenced on March 13th.
Sincerely,
Susan Kosser, Supervisor for Special Education, Half Hollow Hills S.D.
